I’ve been on Actos for two years. What are my risks?
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a drug safety communication on June 15, 2011 that use of Actos “for more than one year may be associated with an increased risk of bladder cancer.” Studies conducted by the manufacturer of Actos, Takeda Pharmaceuticals, also found that patients aged 40 and older who took the drug for five or more years were at greater risk of bladder cancer.
